A light in the window

blog 005

My mother always put lights in the window at Christmas.

When Sweet William and I moved into our first and only home, Mother bought lights for my windows that first Christmas.  I still use them.

Putting lights in the front bay windows always requires me to bend low and plug in the chords.  It’s an effort that becomes more difficult as the knees grow older.  But for me the light signals the Christmas season.  The light says welcome.  Someone is at home.  And we are celebrating the Christ, the light of the world.

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.”  Isaiah 9:2

The Light shined in the darkness of a Bethlehem town and upon shepherds on a hillside and in the night sky leading magi to the King.  It still shines in hearts.  Those looking for it will find it.

Come home.  He’s left the Light light on for you
